Marias. É o nome do mais recente clube de ultimate criado em Portugal e destaca-se por ser também o primeiro clube feminino. Todos nós temos uma Maria nas nossas vidas e por isso nesta equipa cada jogadora adopta Maria como nome próprio e um cognome que a caracteriza. É este um dos elos que liga as jogadoras de norte a sul de Portugal. Encontram-se sempre que possível sob a orientação de Mel Chowgule como treinadora. O primeiro objetivo é unificar o modo de pensar e reagir. Não é fácil congregar jogadoras de equipas diferentes, mas os passos vão sendo dados e a cada competição as Marias ficam mais coesas e confiantes no seu modo de jogar.

A última competição foi em Barcelona no passado fim-de-semana de 17 e 18 de Fevereiro. CBC é a competição feminina de Ultimate de praia organizada pela equipa espanhola Cremas. Teve a participação de 15 equipas femininas de vários países. Espanha, Estados Unidos, Dinamarca, Irlanda e… Portugal! Desta vez as Marias perderam 3 jogos e ganharam outros 3, ficando no 11°lugar.

Regressaram a Portugal entusiasmadas por crescer ainda mais como equipa e como jogadores de Ultimate. Não deixem de seguir os passos desta equipa, que com certeza terá muitos sucessos.

Marias. It’s the name of the newest ultimate club created in Portugal and stands out for being also the first women’s club. We all have a Maria in our lives and so in this team, each player adopts Maria as their first name and a surname that characterizes them. This is one of the links that connects players from north to south of Portugal. They meet whenever possible under the guidance of Mel Chowgule as coach. The first goal is to unify the way of thinking and reacting. It’s not easy to bring together players from different teams, but steps are being taken and with each competition, the Marias become more cohesive and confident in their way of playing.

The last competition was in Barcelona on the weekend of February 17th and 18th. CBC is the women’s beach Ultimate competition organized by the Spanish team Cremas. It had the participation of 15 women’s teams from various countries: Spain, United States, Denmark, Ireland, and… Portugal! This time the Marias lost 3 games and won another 3, finishing in 11th place.
